Mary Anne's Story
Graduated from Prospect, headed to college in Minnesota. Got called home to take care of my mom and my siblings. Went to work for Mt. Prospect State Bank. Married Paul Scharringhausen in 1972. (We divorced in 1982.) Started to work for AT&T in 1979. Worked my way up the ladder, (one could do that back then). Traveled all over Europe and the U.S. Got transferred to Kansas City in 1981. Married Elliott Schwartz in 1985. (I seem to marry guys who are blonde, wear glasses, and last names start with Sch) We separated in 1997, but remain good friends to this day. Took...Expand for more
early retirement in 2001 in order to take care of my dad. Two days before my dad's funeral, my mom collasped. Took care of my mom. Then I decided to go back to school and do what I really wanted to do. Attended Rockhurst University (a Jesuit school), then got accepted at Cambridge University, Gonville Caius College. Absolutely LOVED going to school there despite the fact that my fellow students could have been my kids or probably my grandkids. Saw even more of Europe. And now I'm in Kansas, just doing my thing - doing research, writing, and rediscovering life.
